Julia Mae Weidman, 89, died February 5, 2026, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson. Â She was born July 5, 1936, in Altamont, KS to George L. and Mary May (Jones) Dove.
Julia grew up in Altamont and Parsons, KS.  She graduated from Parsons High School in 1954 and Parsons Junior College in 1956.  Julia received her Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Social Science in 1958 and her Master’s in Education in 1963 from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, KS.  She taught American and World History at Chanute High School, Chanute, KS for two years and English at Phillipsburg Junior High, Phillipsburg, KS for one year.
Julia married Earl Weidman on December 27, 1959, in Parsons. Earl died March 21, 2020.
Julia and Earl moved to Hutchinson in 1961, where she did substitute teaching at Hutchinson High School, and Central and Sherman Junior High’s.  She was a charter member of Countryside Baptist Church and remained an active member.  Julia joined Sweet Adelines in 1961 and has been a member ever since.
Julia is survived by: Â sons, David (Pam) Weidman of Mount Vernon, TX and Steven (Milissa) Weidman of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Amber (Jouwert) Talsma of Mount Vernon, TX, Michael (Aika) Weidman of Clementon, New Jersey, Matthew Weidman of Houston, TX, and Kristen Weidman of Houston, TX; step-grandchildren, Zachary Hope (Jordan) and Alexis Hope (Trevor); and six great-grandchildren; and brother, Robert (Judy) Dover of Wichita.
She was preceded in death by: Â her parents and husband, Earl Weidman.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Elliott Chapel, with the Reverend Dr. Dan Price officiating. Â Friends may sign her from book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. Â The family will receive friends at Elliott Mortuary from 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday, February 19, 2026.
