Judy A. Carson
1941-2026

Judy Ann Carson, age 84, went to be with our Lord Jesus, on January 26, 2026. She was born to Charles and Avanell (Clay) Wiseman on July 30, 1941, in Winfield, KS. The family moved around to several cities during her youth but spent most of her adolescent years in Hill City, KS, and later in Augusta, KS, where she graduated from high school and was homecoming queen her senior year. After high school, she moved to Arkansas City where she attended Cowley County Community College, then transferred to Butler County Community College in El Dorado, KS. It was here that she met her soul mate, Robert Carson. They were married on March 2, 1962, in El Dorado, KS.

After marriage, Judy worked for an optometrist and a tax service in Augusta until she took a job as an insurance adjuster for Murray Insurance in El Dorado, KS. In 1974, the family moved to McPherson, KS where she would spend the remainder of her life. In McPherson, she worked for Duguid Insurance before taking a job with the Aplin & Leopold Optometrist office where she worked for the next 23 years. Judy loved to travel with Robert, and was blessed with the opportunity to visit 75 countries during their travels together. Among her favorites were the European countries due to the history they provided. Close seconds were Patagonia and the Galapagos Islands. She was also very involved with many volunteer organizations, including VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services for Humanity) which took her and Robert to Venezuela a total of eight times. Other volunteer work took her to Uganda, Africa to distribute eyeglasses. Judy was also active in the Beta Sigma Phi sorority and St. Anne’s Episcopal Church and enjoyed belonging to her bridge club.

Judy is survived by her husband, Robert Carson; Max (family cat); three sons, Chuck Carson of Hutchinson, KS, Chris Carson (Emily) of Paker, CO, and Craig Carson (Wanda) of McPherson, KS; six grandchildren, Cameron, Tristan, Amy, Kristen, Raven, and Tyler; four great-grandchildren, Bailey, Bonner, Cairo, and Cruze.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Wiseman; mother, Avanell Wiseman; and daughter-in-law, Sharon Carson.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the First Christian Church, McPherson.
