Judith “Judi” Ann Miller
1946-2026
Judith Ann “Judi” Miller, 79, passed away on March 8, 2026, in Concordia, Kansas. She was born March 13, 1946, in St. Francis, Kansas, to Marion and Betty Miller.

Judi spent the first seven years of her life living on a farm with her parents and her younger sister, Gwen, before the family moved into St. Francis. She began her education in a country school and later attended St. Francis schools, graduating in 1964.

She continued her education at Hays State College, earning a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1968 and a Master’s Degree in Education in 1971.

Judi devoted 36 years to teaching second and third grades at Lincoln Elementary School in Fredonia, Kansas. She loved teaching and made a lasting impact on generations of students during her long and dedicated career.

After retiring, Judi enjoyed creating beautiful and practical baskets and treasured the time she spent with the Chard children—Aiden, Claire, and Grace—years she often described as some of the best of her life. She also loved playing games with her friends in Fredonia.

Judi was actively involved in her community through the Fredonia Teachers Association, KNEA and NEA, the Fredonia Arts Council, Friends of the Library, the Missouri Basketmakers Guild, the Fredonia Regional Hospital Foundation, and the Fredonia Library Foundation.

She was diagnosed with ALS in 2023. She later moved to Concordia, Kansas, where she spent the remainder of her life at Sunset Nursing Home.

Judi is survived by her sister, Gwen Miller of Concordia, Kansas; cousins; and many dear friends whom she considered family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association and sent in care of Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, P.O. Box 606, Concordia, KS 66901. Online condolences may be left at www.chaputbuoy.com.
