1931-2026
John Leeander Nading, Jr., 94, died from a sudden illness on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at the McPherson Hospital surrounded by his family.
He was born October 23, 1931 in Oswego, Kansas, the son of John Leeander Nading, Sr. and Viola Mae (Hall) Nading. John graduated from Labette County High School with the class of 1950.
John was united in marriage to Carolyn Marie Bradbury on June 1, 1952. They enjoyed 70 years together before Carolyn’s passing in 2022.
He was inducted into the United States Army in 1952, serving in the Korean War. He attained the rank of Sergeant.
John and Carolyn started their married life in Coffeyville, Kansas, later moving to Wichita to work at Boeing. In 1972, they relocated to Moundridge, where John began working at Bradbury Co., as a machinist, and later in customer service. He retired in 1996.
Fishing was always his passion and kicked into high gear after he retired. Together they purchased a lake house at Marion Lake and spent their retirement years trying to “out fish” the other. We all have great memories of family time, boating and fishing at the lake.
He was a member of the Moundridge United Methodist Church and the McPherson Masonic Lodge #172.
John remained active ‘til his last day – he loved to putter around outside feeding squirrels and birds and looked forward to the hummingbirds appearing every year.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sharon Saylor; wife, Carolyn Nading; brothers, Jim, Bob, Alfred, and Dallas Nading; and sister, Juanita Carnahan.
John is survived by his children, Karl (Carol) Nading, Audrey (Pat) Diederich, John Nading III, and Keryl (John) Christian; brother, Francis Nading; sister, Gail (Albert) Lee; sisters-in-law, Valorie Bradbury, Donna Bradbury, Pat Bradbury, Judy McGuinness, and Marge Bradbury; brother-in-law, Robert (Alice) Bradbury; grandchildren, Nic Winsky, Adam Winsky, Rusty Winsky, Gina Wedel, Andy Nading, Emma Lauer, Rachelle Nading, Heather Jordan, Alexandria Danks, Angela Saylor, Rebecca Stoker, and Lucas Saylor; great-grandchildren, Nicole Winsky, Kelsi Spooner, Cooper Winsky, Ryder Winsky, Gavin Wedel, Garet Wedel, Grant Wedel, Axton Nading, Keelyn Nading, Mason Jordan, Sadie Diehl, Isabel Stoker, Ethan Stoker, Jace Lauer, Jill Lauer, Jerrett Lauer, and Juliette Lauer.
