On January 16th, 2026, Joan Bohart passed away peacefully at Country Living in Larned, KS. Â Joan was her endearing, yet feisty little self all the way until the end.
She was born February 23, 1937 in Larned. The daughter of Everett H. and Diantha Claudine Wells Blackwell.
Joan spent most of her life as a resident of Larned where she worked at LCMHF as a substance abuse counselor. She was a member of Larned Methodist Church and auxiliary member of PVCH in addition to serving on PFAC for the hospital, Site Council for Fort Larned Elementary School and other various volunteer activities through the years.
Joan married James (Jim) A. Bohart on July 22, 1956 in Larned. He passed December 27, 2015. Together they shared their love of family, faith, K-State sports and travelling.
Joan is survived by two daughters, Kathy (Brent) Whitley of Ness City, and Pam (John) Hutfles of Larned; bonus son, Cory Stelter of Larned; five grandchildren, Talicia (Mark) Millard of Salina, Brandon (Jerri) Whitley of Ness City, Dane (Madison) Whitley of Ness City, Matt (Lindsay Agron) Hutfles of Overland Park, and Emily (Zach) Payne of Olathe; six great grandchildren, Tate, June and Mabel Millard, Lincoln and Augie Payne and Dawson Whitley.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Service will be 10:30am Monday, January 19, 2026 at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Father Warren Stecklein presiding. Visitation will be 1pm to 8pm with family present 4pm to 6pm Sunday, January 18, 2026 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be in Larned Cemetery.
