Jewell C. Allen

Jewell Allen, resident of Neodesha Care and Rehab, formerly from Fredonia, passed on March 1st, 2026. She was born June 3, 1938, on the family farm near Chetopa, KS to Elmer (Doc) Plummer and Maurine (Wells) Plummer.

Jewell married Clifford Harris on June 4, 1958, after graduating from Mt. Carmel as an RN. They had three children: Terry, Sandra and Brian. They later divorced. She was later married to Bill Allen and Rick Allen. Both unions ended in divorce.

She held numerous positions throughout her long nursing career, Dr. Ralph Summer, St. Margret’s Mercy Hospital, Fredonia Regional Hospital, Labette County Home Health and Parsons State Hospital.

She was preceded by her parents, brothers, Jerry Plummer and Jimmy Plummer, son, Terry Harris and three grandchildren, Kaylene Harris, Brandon Harris and Trevor Phillips.

Left to cherish her memories is her daughter, Sandra Phillips and son, Brian Harris (Bonnie), her brother, Joe Plummer, grandchildren Shawn Harris, Lori Boyer, Justin Harris, Jeremiah Lassley, Mandy Lassley, Michael Harris, and Carson Phillips, numerous other family members and friends.

Jewell will be remembered by family and friends as a sweet, caring, kind, devoted mother and nurse.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Neodesha Care and Rehab and to Mom’s “personal nurse” Tia Porter.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11:00 am at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia. Memorials in her memory have been suggested to the Neodesha Care and Rehab for their flower garden and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
