Jarvis Rennolds Brink
1938-2026

Jarvis Rennolds Brink, 87, of rural LeRoy, Kansas, passed away early Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at his home.

He was born August 25, 1938, in Leavenworth, KS, the son of John Eberth and Doris Irene (Dwelly) Brink. The family lived in Topeka until 1942, when they moved to LeRoy and his parents started the J.D. Hereford Ranch.

Jarvis attended LeRoy schools, graduating from LeRoy High School in 1956. He then attended Kansas State University, where he was a member of the AGR fraternity and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. He was proud to be a lifelong Wildcat, following KSU sports and through the years recounted many wonderful memories of his time in Manhattan. In 1964, he began his teaching career in Seneca, KS, teaching High School Science. He then taught at the LeRoy/Gridley schools for one year before teaching at Crest High School in Colony, KS, for 10 years. He and Nancy enjoyed sponsoring Senior classes and the adventures of their class trips. Following in his father’s footsteps, he took over the family ranch raising Quarter Horses, a variety of cattle, and producing prairie hay. An avid outdoorsman, he also worked to manage the land for wildlife habitat and hunting conservation activities, and enjoyed yearly visits from "the Arkansas guys" who became lifelong friends.

Jarvis loved the natural world and was most at home outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, hiking in the woods and horseback riding. He was a Christian and involved at First Christian Church of LeRoy in younger years. In later years, he communed with God in nature. In his college days and young adult life, he also participated in rodeo, specifically bull riding. Jarvis was blessed with a beautiful singing voice and was honored to sing at many local funerals throughout his adult life. A lifelong learner, he became very interested in history and with his incredible memory, could easily recall facts, figures and people from throughout his life. Jarvis loved his family and was particularly proud of his granddaughters.

He was a member of Neosho Lodge #27, A.F. & A.M., and served on the USD 245 School Board, as well as the boards of the Coffey County Farm Bureau and the LeRoy Coop.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James and Jack Brink; two brothers-in-law, Robert Main and Michael Fickel; two nephews, John Main and Tom Main; and his in-laws, Max and Helena Nelson.

He is survived by Nancy, his wife of more than 61 years; two daughters, Laura Pavlak (Tom) of LeRoy, KS, and Emily Magers (Bob) of Coupeville, WA; two granddaughters, Lacey and Sofie Pavlak; his sister, Meredith Main of Saginaw, MI; his sister-in-law Mary Lou Fickel of Leawood, KS and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Cremation is planned. No services are scheduled at this time.
