James (Bob) Robert Weeks
1931-2026

James (Bob) Robert Weeks, 94, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute, Kansas, with his beloved wife Janice by his side. He was born on October 2, 1931, in Junction City, Kansas, to Jack and Hazel (Spangler) Weeks. Bob touched the lives of many throughout his lifetime with kindness, dedication, and a remarkable sense of humor.

A lifelong learner and a man of many talents, Bob graduated from Gackle High School, North Dakota, in 1949 and pursued further education at Neosho County Community College. His commitment to serving his country was demonstrated through his honorable service in the United States Army, where he specialized in the Medical Corps. Bob embraced his entrepreneurial spirit by founding and operating Weeks Electric, an enterprise that benefited many in the community through his skilled workmanship and integrity.

Bob’s faith played a central role in his life. As an active member and head Elder of the Chanute Seventh-day Adventist Church for many years, his leadership was both steady and inspiring. He not only served his congregation but also contributed greatly to the physical home of their worship, meticulously drawing the plans for the new church and overseeing its construction, leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.

Known for his quick wit and unfailing kindness, Bob was never without a joke to lift the spirits of others. His rare photographic memory was a gift that amazed friends and family alike, allowing him to recall scripture passages, poems, and a wealth of knowledge with ease. This remarkable ability added depth to both his conversations and his ministry, enriching the lives of those around him.

In his leisure moments, Bob delighted in crossword puzzles, demonstrating a sharp intellect that could unravel even the most challenging clues—a pastime that reflected his lifelong love of learning and mental agility.

Bob’s proudest personal accomplishment was the enduring love he shared with his wife, Janice. Their marriage, solemnized on March 26, 1958, in Chanute, Kansas, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, was marked by countless tender moments, symbolized by the simple but profound gesture of red roses. What began as a single rose on Janice’s birthday blossomed into a cherished tradition of affection, a testament to their deep and abiding bond.

He is survived by his devoted wife Janice, who was his steadfast partner through many years; his sister, Elaine Crary of Franklin, Illinois; and by five nieces and one nephew who carry forward the memory of his gentle spirit. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and siblings—DeAun Weeks, Verl Weeks, Vivian Heinrich, and Jackie Guiou, whose memories he honored throughout his life.

James (Bob) Robert Weeks will long be remembered for his unwavering love, his generous heart, and his remarkable presence in the community and church he cherished. May he rest in peace.
