Gary L. King, 80, died April 9, 2026, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born August 25, 1945, in Hutchinson, to Walter Leo and Floretta May (Lugenbeel) King.
Gary graduated from Nickerson High School in 1963 and Hutchinson Community College in 1967. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management from Friend's University in 1987. Gary worked at King Brothers Oil Company, South Hutchinson, before retiring in 2009, after 26 years as the plant manager for Leech Products, Inc., Hutchinson. He loved to spend time in nature and was an avid waterfowl hunter and fisherman. Gary also enjoyed collecting antiques. His greatest love was his family; he lived and died loving all his family.
On May 3, 1968, Gary married Mary Ann Sharp, in Wichita.
Gary is survived by: his wife of over 57 years, Mary Ann King of Hutchinson; daughters, Kelly (Sean) Gonzales of McPherson, Kristy Asfoor of Oviedo, FL, and Kimmy King of Wichita; sister, Gaye (Diane) Clements of Wichita; grandchildren, Ciara Gonzales, Ladeesha Kindred, Samy Asfoor, Yasmeen Asfoor, Ramy Asfoor, Logan Gonzales, Noor Asfoor; and great-grandchildren, Korté White, Zia Gonzales, Kytae White.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; baby sister, Gail King; and infant granddaughter, Alexis Gonzales.
Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Ducks Unlimited, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS.
