Ethel Marie Kaiser, 95, of Overland Park and formerly of Wichita, died Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at Lakeview Village in Lenexa. She was born June 5, 1930 in Canton, the daughter of Charles John and Elsie Irma (Auernheimer) Sommerfeld. She graduated from Canton High School with the class of 1948.
On August 13, 1950 she was united in marriage to Bill J. Kaiser in McPherson. They were blessed with three children, Jim, Marilyn and Diana. Her husband Bill preceded her in death on December 18, 1976.
She was a retired cook from the Wichita Public School system and had been a resident of Overland Park since 2020, moving from Wichita.
Ethel was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her son Jim (Nancy) Kaiser of Bella Vista, Arkansas; her two daughters, Marilyn (Larry) Alexander of Gypsum and Diana (Glenn) Carney of Overland Park; one brother, Verlin (Ann) Sommerfeld, Hillsboro; a sister-in-law, Judy Sommerfeld, Hillsboro; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Clifford and wife Irene, Milford and wife Evelyn, Ernest and wife Mary and Arnold Sommerfeld; and a sister, Elda Sommerfeld.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at the Roxbury United Parish with Pastor Megan Eisenbarth presiding. Interment will be in the Canton Township Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at Olson's Mortuary, Canton.
