Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Yoder
1952-2026

Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Yoder, 74, of South Hutchinson, died August 3, 2026, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis, in Wichita. She was born July 24, 1952, in Pittsburg, Kansas, to John and Virginia (Millard) Powell Jr.

Liz graduated from Kingman High School and received her degree in elementary education from Pittsburg State University. She was a grade school teacher for USD 308 at Winans and Faris elementary schools for 35 years, teaching primarily first grade, but also second thru fourth grades. Liz was an avid Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons football, volleyball, and basketball fan, and faithfully attended the NJCAA basketball tournament every year. She was a member of Journey@South Hutch.

On July 4, 1975, Liz married Gary L. Yoder, in Kingman. They shared over 51 years of marriage.

She is survived by her loving husband, Gary of South Hutchinson; son, Andrew Yoder (Jennifer) of St. Charles, Missouri; daughter, Christina Huntsinger (Danny) of Olathe; grandchildren, Alexandria Yoder, Catherine Yoder, Lela Huntsinger, Weston Huntsinger; brothers, Wayne Powell (Karen) of Wichita, Lloyd Powell (Cindy) of Pretty Prairie; and many extended family members.

Liz was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Eugene Dutton.

Cremation has taken place.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2026, at Journey@South Hutch, 808 S. Poplar St., South Hutchinson. Please use the West entrance to the church.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4th Ave., Hutchinson, with Pastor Joshua Haver officiating. Everyone is invited to join the family for a meal beginning at 11 a.m. at the church. Please use the East entrance to the gym.

Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday thru Friday at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Journey@South Hutch or Cancer Council of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67051.
