Donna Jean Borntrager went to be with the Lord April 9, 2026. She was born April 7, 1931, in Lawrence, KS, to Paul Leroy and Bertha (Dillon) Holmes.
Donna graduated from Independence High School with the class of 1949.
In 1949, she married Darrell Hadley in Independence, out of this marriage came five children, Steven, Michael, Joyce, Russell, and Judith.
In 1972, Donna married Daniel Borntrager in Hutchinson. They shared 54 years of marriage before her death.
Donna was a devoted and hardworking mother and grandmother. She always made sure her family received birthday cards on their special day.
She is survived by: Husband, Daniel Borntrager; children, Steven (Linda) Hadley, Michael (Carroll) Hadley, Russell Hadley, Joyce (Daniel) Lee, and Judith Rhodenbaugh; stepdaughters, Linda Bush and JoAnn Stover; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by: parents; five sisters; one grandson; one stepson; and daughter-in-law, Trease Hadley.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2026, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park. Friends may sign her book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice of Reno County or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, in care of Elliott Mortuary 1219 N. Main Hutchinson, KS 67501.
