Donald Joseph Standfast
1959-2026
Donald Joseph Standfast, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, left this world on January 2, 2026, at the age of 66, in Chanute, Kansas. Born on August 17, 1959, in Durand, Wisconsin, to the late Paul and Audrey (Pittman) Standfast, Donald's life was a testament to the love and laughter he shared with all who knew him.

Donald, affectionately known as Don to his friends and family, was a proud graduate of Chanute High School, class of 1977. His pursuit of higher education led him to Pittsburg State University, where he laid the foundation for what would become a successful career in the pest control industry. His entrepreneurial spirit shone bright when he established SEK Pest Control, a venture he nurtured and later sold the business. His dedication to his work was evident as he joined Orkin, which took him on professional journeys to Jacksonville, Florida, and Wausa, Wisconsin. Donald eventually found his calling as an inspector at HBD Thermoid, where he remained until his well-deserved retirement in 2022. On May, 19, 2009, Don married Rhonda White in Miami, Oklahoma.

Donald's life was marked by his passions and his ability to master any craft he set his mind to. He was a lover of the great outdoors, with fishing being one of his greatest joys. His love for woodworking reflected his meticulous and creative nature, as he turned simple pieces of wood into beautiful works of art. A tech enthusiast at heart, Donald was also fascinated by the ever-changing world of computers, a hobby that kept him connected and engaged with the times.

Known for his loving heart, Donald was a rock for his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Rhonda (White) Standfast; his sons, Joshua Hill and Ricky Hill; his sisters, Patty Ungles, Diane (Kevin) Myers, and Vicki (Doug) Murphy; and his adored grandchildren, Chloe and Emma Hill. His legacy continues through the numerous nieces and nephews who were fortunate to experience his wit and wisdom.

Donald's sense of humor was infectious, and his intelligence was evident to all who engaged in conversation with him. He was a true Jack of all trades, always ready to lend a hand or offer a solution to any problem. The void left by his passing will be felt deeply by those who were blessed to know him.

Graveside services will be held at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in St. Paul, Kansas on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at 11:00am. Memorial contributions can be made in Donald’s name to St. Patrick’s Catholic School. The family has entrusted arrangements with Countryside Funeral Home.
