DeWane “Jimmy” Schroeder
1940-2026

DeWane "Jimmy" Schroeder, 85, of Goessel, KS, passed away Monday, January 12th, 2026. He was born April 2nd, 1940 in Goessel, Kansas, the son of Victor and Elma (Klassen) Schroeder and twin brother of John Schroeder.

Jimmy attended the Sunrise Grade School in rural Goessel and graduated from Goessel High School with the class of 1958.

He was a member of Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in Goessel.

Jimmy lived on and farmed his family's land during his life as well as worked on the assembly line at Hesston Corporation (AGCO) for many years. He had a deep love for his family farm and believed in tending the land well.

He is survived by his brother, John Schroeder of Hesston; daughter, Robyn Havener and her husband, Jeff Havener of Broken Arrow, OK; and grandkids, Ethan and Kelsey Havener as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Esta Schroeder; sisters, Jean Schmidt, Eunice Schmidt and LaVerna Ediger; and brothers, Goldwin Schroeder and Ira Don Schroeder.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, January 30th, 2026, at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church Cemetery, Goessel. Memorial contributions may be made to Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, to go towards their cemetery fund, in care of Miller- Ott Funeral Home, PO Box 96, Goessel, KS 67053.
