David Bruce Jones, 74, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2026 at his home. He was born on September 5, 1951 in Great Bend, Kansas to Claude and Patricia (Blackmoore) Shoemaker. He was later adopted by Elmer Jones.
He graduated from El Dorado High School with the class of 1968.
David was united in marriage to DeAnna Coker on August 23, 1980. She survived after 45 years of marriage.
David worked at Johns Manville of McPherson for nearly 40 years as an operator.
He was Abram's best buddy and partner in the special olympics.
He is survived by his wife, DeAnna Jones of McPherson; daughter, Michelle Jones of Newton; two grandsons, Abram and Josey Espinosa; and brother, Ronald J. Jones of McPherson.
David was preceded in death by his parents; and infant brother, Claude Allen Shoemaker.
Cremation is planned with private burial to take place at Empire Cemetery, rural Galva. Memorial contributions may be made to National Down Syndrome Society or McPherson Special Olympics in care of Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Funeral Home, 222 W Euclid, McPherson, KS 67460.
