Darleta Faye Chism, 71, passed away July 10, 2026, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas. She was born on June 27, 1955, in Great Bend, Kansas, to Fred Sr. and Meda (Whitsel) Rankin.

A lifetime Great Bend resident, Darleta worked as a supervisor in the receiving department at Walmart prior to her retirement. She loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include son, Travis Chism (Susie) of Ellinwood; daughter, Stacie Murray (Mike) of Great Bend; six grandchildren, Emilie Murray, Jacob Murray (Kaily), Maddie Murray (Roy), Tate Murray (Mara), Bayne Chism (Ashley), and Ryley Chism; eight great grandchildren, Nataleigh Murray, Noahh Murray, Nyler Murray, Naysen Murray, Josie Murray, Miles Murray, Kai Murray, and Eli Murray; three brothers, Richard Rankin of Colorado, Fred Rankin, Jr. of Great Bend, and Melvin Rankin of Ellinwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Phyllis Hopkins and Gloriann Reynolds; and significant other, Mark Fick.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Sam Ryan presiding. Interment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery North. Memorials have been designated to Darleta Chism Expense Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
