Dana “Corky” ScarlettBurlington, KS

Dana “Corky” L. Scarlett, 88, died May 4, 2026, at his home in Burlington. He was born September 22, 1937, in Valley Falls, to Homer F. and Olive L. (Gilliland) Scarlett. Corky graduated from Valley Falls High School in 1955.  He retired as a mail carrier from the United States Postal Service. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Corky proudly served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1960.

Corky enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cards and working on puzzles. He was an avid sports fan of the KC Chiefs, Royals and whatever sport his grandchildren were playing.

On October 29, 1960, he married Joyce K. Williams in Spring Hill. They shared 65 and a half years of marriage.

Corky is survived by: wife, Joyce of the home; children, Troy Scarlett and wife Mechelle of Goddard, Julie Scarlett of Burlington, Carrie Parrott and husband Roy of Lopatcong, NJ, Pamela Hatch and husband Donald of Burlington; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Janell Scarlett.

He was preceded in death by: his parents and siblings, Richard (Phyllis) Scarlett, Irvin (Meda) Scarlett, Warren Scarlett and infant brother, Donald Scarlett.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2026, at Jones Funeral Home, Burlington, with Reverend Jay Hale officiating. Family will greet friends at 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery with military honors conducted by McConnell Air Force Base.
