Christopher Lynn Koch, age 47, of Chanute, Kansas, passed away July 23, 2026, at the Kansas Heart Hospital, Wichita, Kansas. Chris was born November 25, 1978, in Paola, Kansas, to Melvin R. Koch and LaDonna R. (Shields) Watts.
Chris earned an associate of science degree in aviation and airway management and operations from Kansas State University and a bachelor of applied science degree in business administration and management from Kansas State University. He also held a degree in airplane air frame and power plant (A&P) mechanics. He worked as an A&P (aircraft) mechanic.
Chris and Shawn LeBlanc were married January 28, 2006. They later divorced.
Chris was an avid OU fan. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing. Chris was an excellent mechanic and could work on anything mechanical. He liked spending time outdoors with his children, and he was known for taking the kids sledding. Chris absolutely hated the Texas Longhorns. His kids thought he was hilarious and very intelligent.
Chris was preceded in death by his step-father, Keith Watts.
Chris is survived by his parents, Melvin R. Koch, LaDonna (Shields) Watts; girlfriend, Karessa Lewis; children, Chyenne Koch, Hailee Edwards, Seth Koch, Savannah Koch, Addison Koch, Annabelle Koch; siblings, Nichole Orton, Aaron Koch; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Cremation will take place. His cremated remains will be scattered by his family in the Arbuckle Mountains in Oklahoma.
