Carolyn Sue Mattingly, 78, passed away January 6, 2026, at Harry Hynes Hospice in Wichita, KS. She was born November 26, 1947, in Lyons, KS, the daughter of Aaron and Cora M. (Donaldson) Simmons.
Carolyn graduated from Lyons High School in 1965. On June 8, 1978, she married William R. Mattingly in Bartlesville, OK. Carolyn enjoyed spending her time putting puzzles together, attending Hutch Juco basketball games and spending time with her family and friends.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; and sisters, Shirley M. Shirlen and Kathy J. Simmons.
She is survived by her son, Randy Mattingly; daughter Kristina (Nathan) DeBerry both of Hutchinson, KS; siblings, Joey Simmons of Oklahoma, Mary Ann(Loren) Johnson, Ron Simmons, Marvin Simmons and Vicki Gehring all of Hutchinson, KS; seven grandchildren, Dylan Allbright of Arlington, KS, Mason Allbright of Seattle, WA, Susan Mattingly of Wichita, KS, Kaden (Leslie) Beaton of DeSotto, KS, Jaden Beaton of Wichita, KS, Carson DeBerry and Mason DeBerry both of Hutchinson, KS; one great grandson, Grayson DeBerry and multiple cousins that she loved and cherished.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 16, 2026, at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS, with Pastor Jerry Bowen officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. The burial will take place in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, KS. Memorial contributions can be made to the donor’s choice and sent in care of the funeral chapel.
