Calvin Edward Howard III, age 86 of Fredonia, passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. Calvin was born on July 17, 1939, in Independence, KS., the son of Calvin Edward and Eloise (Slaten) Howard, Jr.
After completing high school, Calvin attended college, and also joined the Army National Guard, where he served for seven years receiving his honorable discharge. On August 3, 1962, Calvin married Judith A. Newman, where they began their life together for the next 63 years.
Calvin dedicated his life to God, his wife, family and grandchildren, where he was always planning new adventures or activities so they could be together and have fun. Calvin was artistic in numerous ways, painting, puzzles, doing glass work, and incorporated his family into those activities. Calvin had the ability to whistle like others would sing a song. Having his family, making memories with his grandchildren was his legacy, that will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

19 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews
Calvin was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Frank Howard.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 11:00 am at the Church of the Nazarene in Neodesha. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to service time, burial will be a private service at the Fredonia City Cemetery at a later date. Memorials have been suggested to the Church of the Nazarene Building Fund and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
