Topeka, Kan – McPherson College Women’s Bowling competed in the KCAC Championships at the Gage Bowl over the weekend to round out their NAIA portion of the 2025-2026 schedule. Following a 16th-place performance at the Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis, the Bulldogs went into the single-day tournament with high hopes.
How it Happened
The top eight teams in the KCAC were given the privilege of competing in the conference tournament. Out of the eight teams that traveled to Topeka, the Bulldogs were seeded 3rd in the mega-match format bracket.
McPherson was paired with the 6th seeded Hastings Broncos in the opening quarterfinal round. The Bulldogs would go on to win the first team game point by way of 922-763 and the second point 869-721 to advance to the semifinals.
In the semifinal round, the Bulldogs faced the 2nd seeded Morningside University Mustangs. McPherson fell behind in the first team game and couldn’t rally back, giving the Mustangs an 895-848 loss. In a crucial second point match, the Bulldogs started strong in an effort to push for three points. Morningside was able to hold off McPherson and take the second point with a 932-808 victory to eliminate the Bulldogs.
During the morning introductions of the teams, the KCAC recognized three Bulldogs to the All-KCAC lists:
Kacee Rhody – 1st Team All-KCAC | Rookie of the Year | Newcomer of the Year
Veronyca West – 2nd Team All-KCAC
Hailey Lennox – 2nd Team All-KCAC
After leading his team to five top-ten finishes this season and a KCAC semifinal appearance, Mitchell Whitehead was named KCAC Women’s Bowling Coach of the Year for the 2025-2026 season.
This wraps up the NAIA portion of the season for the Bulldogs, but they still have plenty of bowling left this season. They’ll be at the ITC Sectionals in Addison, IL from March 14-15.
