Chickasha, Okla. – The Tigers traveled to face the #9 ranked University of Science and Arts Drovers in a four game series over the weekend. The Tigers looked to bounce back after a tough four game home series against Nelson.
On Friday, the Tigers had their hands full as they mustered just 8 hits in the two games and totaled two runs. The Drover offense showed up totaling 18 runs in the first two games to run-rule the Tigers in both games. In game two, Jaci Jeffers provided the lone bright spot as she belted a two-run homerun to center field in the 6th inning. The Drovers would go on to score five runs in the bottom of the 6th to bring the run-rule into effect, winning 10-2.
On Saturday, the Tigers hoped to snap the skid but the Drovers were relentless at the plate. The Drovers tallied 5 runs across the first four innings and that is all they would need as the Tiger offense had just three hits. Ciara Valadez, the Tiger lead-off hitter tallied two of those three hits.
In the final game of the series, the Drover pitching continued to be the talk of the weekend as the Tigers again only strung together three hits. The Drover offense continued to thrive at home as they plated seven runs and would wind up winning the game 7-0 and taking all four games of the series.
The Tigers look to bounce back on Friday and Saturday of this week as they host the Mid-America Christian University Evangels in McPherson. First pitch is set for 3:00PM on Friday and 12:00PM on Saturday. The games will also be streamed on the Urban Edge Network.
