Winfield, Kan. – The Central Christian College of Kansas Softball team traveled to Winfield to face the Southwestern College Moundbuilders on Tuesday in a mid-week doubleheader.

The first game saw the Tigers throw Clarissa Rejino and she was solid, going all 7 innings while striking out 6 and walking none while allowing just 1 run in a 2-1 victory. The tone setting two and three hitters for the Tigers, Ciara Valadez and Ashley Vaccaro each recorded a triple and would spark the Tiger offense. Two runs would come across for the Tigers and that is all that Rejino would need to get the Tigers to a game one win.

30 minutes later, the Tigers and Moundbuilders were back out there for game 2 and the Moundbuilders would strike first, tagging Chelsie Hirtler for two runs early in the 3rd inning. The Tigers got a run back in the 4th when Hirtler singled to drive in a run. They would then tie up the game in the 7th inning when Ciara Valadez drove in the tying run on a single up the middle.

The Tigers would force extra innings and take the lead in the 8th on a passed ball that allowed Ashley Vaccaro to score giving the Tigers a 3-2 lead. The bottom of the 8th saw the Moundbuilders not go down easy as they tied the game with some good situational hitting. In the 9th, the Tigers were unable to push a run accross and the Moundbuilders walked it off to salvage a split in the two games.

The Tigers (4-2), now turn their attention to the home opener on Tuesday, February 24th as they face Bethel College. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00pm and the games will be streamed on the Urban Edge Network and SAC Sports Network.
