Jamestown, ND. – The Central Christian Men’s Volleyball team traveled to Jamestown, North Dakota to face the Jamestown University Jimmies on Saturday. The Tigers came into the day still looking for their first win on the season. They would face the Jimmies in two matches on Saturday.
The Tigers started out by converting their first two kill attempts and taking advantage of attack errors by the Jimmies. Jamestown responded with a four point run that would set the tone for this first set. After trading blows, the Jimmies pulled away to win the first set 25-19.
The second set saw the Tigers fight back to try and even the match. A four point run of their own led them to a 12-8 lead in the set. The Jimmies would proceed to go on a 8-3 run to take the lead back in the set. The Jimmies would see themselves take a 2-0 lead in the match after finishing off the set by a score of 25-21.
Down 2-0 in the match, the Tigers looked to bounce back and take a set to try and swing the momentum back in their favor. The Jimmies opened up the third set on a 10-4 run which would give them momentum to finish off the set and the match. The Tigers fought back but it was too late as the Jimmies won the third set 25-14 to take the match in straight sets.
About an hour later, the two teams were back on the court for their second match of the day. The Tigers sought to fix their miscues from the first match. Their fixes seemed to work as they got out to a 13-7 lead midway through the first set. Up 17-13, the Jimmies would rattle off 4 straight points to tie the match at 17-17. After a back and forth battle, the Jimmies would steal the first set from the Tigers, 25-22.
Jamestown would feed off this momentum as they took the second set in dominant fashion, 25-16 with multiple runs that kept the Tigers off balance. Down 2-0 again, the Tigers tried to dig deep and find some magic but were overpowered by a strong front few that Jamestown had. The Jimmies took an early 11-4 lead in the third set on a couple of aces and perfectly placed attacks. Another Jamestown run would all but seal it as they would go on to win the set 25-12 and the match again in straight sets.
The Tigers (0-17), return home to face Avila University on March 13th at 6pm. The match will be streamed on the SAC Sports Network.
