McPherson, Kan. – The Central Christian College of Kansas Women’s Basketball team hosted Southwestern Christian University last night looking to snap a seven game losing streak in conference play. The Tigers would do just that as they triumphed over the Eagles 71-64.

Both teams came out aggressive and putting shots up often. They both shot over 43% from the field in the first quarter where the Eagles found themselves ahead 20-18 after 10 minutes. The Tigers flipped a switch as they held SCU to just nine points in the second quarter while scoring 11 to knot the game up at 29-29 heading into halftime.

From that point on, the Tigers would not relenquish the lead. Cristina Laudan led the Tigers with 17 points and nine rebounds also adding in a block. Chloe Clevenger lit up the stat sheet with five three pointers made to give her 15 points off the bench. Kylee Jones also added 13 points with three triples of her own. The Tigers shot 45% from beyond the arc which helped them continue to build their lead against the Eagles.

The Eagles would not go down quietly though as Kaydrin Scott put up 35 points as well as nine rebounds to help keep the Eagles in the contest. Second chance points proved to be huge as the Tigers won this battle 12-4 over the Eagles. They also outrebounded the Eagles 47-32 which also provided a big boost in possessions as well as opportunities.

The Tigers (6-14, 2-12 SAC), look to carry this momentum into the weekend as they travel to face Oklahoma City University on Saturday. Tip off is set for 2pm and the game can be seen on the Urban Edge Network or SAC Sports Network.
