McPherson, Kan. – The Central Christian College Tigers battled through a back-and-forth match on Tuesday night, outlasting Langston University in a five-set marathon (25–18, 18–25, 25–18, 19–25, 19–17) at the McPherson Community Building.

The win snapped a conference skid for the Tigers and showcased one of their most balanced offensive efforts of the season.
Central Christian came out strong behind an early serving run from Brockmeyer, building a quick 10–6 lead. Harris and Smith combined for late kills to seal a 25–18 opening-set victory.
Langston responded with steady play at the net, capitalizing on Central’s attack errors to take the second frame 25–18 and even the match at one set a piece.
The Tigers regrouped, using a balanced attack led by Harris and Johnson to jump ahead early. Brockmeyer again served tough, delivering two aces in a five-point stretch, as Central controlled the set 25–18.
Momentum swung back to Langston, who forced a decisive fifth set with a 25–19 win after Central struggled offensively (.056 hitting).
The finale was a nail-biter. Neither team led by more than two points until the very end. Smith and Harris delivered clutch kills late, and Nix connected with Goratowski for the match-winning point as the Tigers prevailed 19–17.
