McPherson, Kan. — The Central Christian College of Kansas men’s basketball team picked up a key Sooner Athletic Conference victory Thursday night, defeating John Brown University 77–67 at home.

The Tigers set the tone early with efficient offensive execution and steady defensive pressure, building momentum throughout the first half. Central Christian shot well from the floor and capitalized at the free-throw line, allowing the Tigers to carry a lead into the break and maintain control for the remainder of the contest.

Chris Whitten led all scorers for Central Christian, finishing with 28 points to pace the Tigers. Whitten was efficient throughout the night, attacking the basket and converting at the line while serving as the focal point of the offense. He was supported by a balanced scoring effort, as Jevarrick Butler added 13 points and Michael Doria chipped in 12 points on strong shooting.

Jaeden Whitten provided a solid presence, contributing 10 points and six rebounds, while the Tigers received valuable minutes from multiple players who helped on the boards and defensively. Central Christian’s ability to spread scoring across the lineup made it difficult for John Brown to mount a sustained comeback.

Despite several pushes by John Brown, the Tigers responded each time with timely baskets and stops, preventing the visitors from closing the gap late. Central Christian’s composure at the free-throw line and disciplined play down the stretch sealed the win.

The win moves the Tigers to 8-9, 3-8 SAC. The Tigers travel to Point Lookout, Missouri to face College of the Ozarks on Saturday. Tip off is scheduled for 4:00PM and can be seen on the Urban Edge Network.
