Oklahoma City, Okla. – The Central Christian College of Kansas Men’s Basketball team traveled to Oklahoma City to face the Mid-America Christian University Evangels on Thursday. The Tigers fought hard and showed plenty of heart, but ultimately came up short, falling 83–75.

Central Christian came out of the gates strong but was met with the same intensity from the Evangels. The first half ended as the Evangels led 51-27, with the Tigers hanging within range going into the break. The second half saw the Tigers respond aggressively, putting up 48 points on 53.8% shooting — well above their first-half clip.

On offense, a standout performance came from guard Chris Whitten, who poured in 27 points on 9-of-17 shooting, including 6 of 11 from three, and added 5 rebounds and 2 assists. That effort helped fuel the second-half push — but it wasn’t enough on its own.

Other key contributors included Travis King with 11 points and four rebounds. Jevarrick ButlerAndre Cooper, and others chipped in with scoring and hustle, but the Tigers lacked consistent help beyond their top contributors.

Despite improved shooting and fight in the second half, defensive lapses and the depth advantage held by Mid-America Christian proved costly. The Evangels managed to score efficiently and close out the game.

The Tigers move to 5-5, 0-4 on the season. Tomorrow, the Tigers welcome USAO to McPherson where they look to get their first conference win of the season. Tip-off is set for 3:45pm and the game will be streamed on the Urban Edge Network and the SAC Sports Network.
