Hillsboro, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes Baseball team put together a strong weekend on the road, taking two of three games from Tabor and earning a run-rule victory in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader.
GAME 1: SWEDES 2, BLUE JAYS 6
Bethany opened the series with eight hits but came up short in the first game. Eduardo Tarafa led the offense with a 3-for-4 performance, while William Sanchez added two hits and Conner Balmer drove in the Swedes’ lone RBI.
On the mound, Joseph Guzman struck out seven over 5.0 innings, and Noah Hargrove added 2.0 scoreless innings in relief.
GAME 2: SWEDES 13, BLUE JAYS 3
The Swedes bounced back in a big way in game two, rolling to a 13-3 win by run rule in the seventh inning. Bethany scored in five different innings and used a balanced offensive attack to take control early and never let go.
William Sanchez had a huge game, going 3-for-5 with five RBIs, two doubles, and a home run. Manny Gonzalez also turned in a big performance with two hits, three runs scored, and a home run, while Fernando Bones added four hits at the top of the lineup.
Juan Melo gave Bethany another strong start, pitching 6.0 innings and allowing three runs, and Giovanny Orozco closed out the final inning.
GAME 3: SWEDES 10, BLUE JAYS 4
Bethany kept the momentum going in the finale, using a seven-run third inning to break the game open on the way to a 10-4 win. The Swedes collected 11 hits and got contributions throughout the lineup.
Stephen Kent led the way with two doubles and three RBIs, while Will Parsons added a three-run home run. Eduardo Tarafa finished with three hits, and Bethany’s offense kept pressure on all afternoon.
After an early deficit, Wesly Martinez settled things down on the mound and earned the win with 4.0 strong innings in relief, allowing just one run and striking out five.
Bethany’s offense came alive across the final two games of the series, and strong performances from William Sanchez, Eduardo Tarafa, Stephen Kent, and Will Parsons helped power the Swedes to an important conference series win.

The Swedes will return to action on Tuesday, April 7th as they host York University, looking to carry momentum from their series win into the midweek matchup.
