Sterling, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes Softball team took a trip to Sterling, Kan. to take on the Sterling College Warriors in a mid-week doubleheader.

GAME 1: SWEDES 2, WARRIORS 1

Not much action in this one as there were only four hits in total; three in favor of the Swedes. Gabriella Nigro knocked in the only runs for the Swedes via a two-RBI single to right-center field scoring Avery Newmiller and Emmaline Senecaut. The Warriors would score one in the final inning, but it would not matter as the Swedes would take Game One 2-1.

Dylann Baker had her best start of the season with six no-hit innings before surrendering her lone hit in the seventh. Baker would also strikeout 10 Warriors.

GAME 2: SWEDES 4, WARRIORS 2

Plenty of hits to go around in this one as both teams tallied eight. The Warriors would start things off scoring two in the third inning. It wouldn’t be until the sixth inning when the Swedes jumped on the board via a Marissa Well triple to right field scoring Avery NewmillerShaylee Keslar would later single in Wells to tie it up 2-2. The game would go into extra-innings and the Swedes would take advantage of it as Newmiller would score on an errant throw to put the Swedes up 3-2. Kalee Aguilar would tack on some insurance with a RBI single scoring Emmaline Senecaut to go up 4-2. Dylann Baker would enter in relief to record the save slamming the door shut on the Warriors.

Ulissa Rivas tallied two hits extending her game hitting streak to eight. Gabriella Nigro would also extend her game hitting streak to five.

Jordyn Stelzig had a solid outing lasting 6.1 innings while striking out six. Amia Alexander-Sims entered in relief in the seventh inning lasting 1.1 innings and earning the win. Dylann Baker entered for just one out, but it earned her the save.
