Lindsborg, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes played host to the Southwestern College Moundbuilders for Senior Day.
GAME 1: SWEDES 9, BUILDERS 6
Game 1 went extremely well early on for Bethany. Avery Newmiller opened the scoring singling home Kalee Aguilar to put the Swedes up 1-0. After allowing two runs in the second, the Swedes went on to score eight runs over the next five innings of play capped off by an Emmaline Senecaut two-run bomb over right field to put the Swedes up 9-2. Bethany would survive an ugly seventh inning to hang on and win 9-6.
Ulissa Rivas proved why she leads off going three-for-four at the plate with two RBI and a run scored. Kalee Aguilar had a solid game with two hits and two runs scored. Emma Pickering got on base twice while recording an RBI and run scored.
MacKenzie Yoder drew the start in the circle going 1.1 innings. Dylann Baker entered in relief for the last 5.2 innings and earned the win while striking out four Moundbuilders.
GAME 2: SWEDES 0, BUILDERS 3
It was a tale of two different games for Bethany. The Swedes would be held hitless for the first 6.1 innings. The Swedes would make plenty of contact, but those hits were directly at the fielders. Kalee Aguilar would end the hitless streak with a single to centerfield, but that would be all the noise the Swedes would make as they fell 0-3.
Jordyn Stelzig drew the start in Game Two. She went the full 7.0 innings, but got the loss although her ERA remained at 0.00 for the contest. Stelzig also set a new career-high in strikeouts in a game with nine.
