Kansas City, Mo. – The Bethany College Swedes Baseball team battled through a three-game road series against Avila, picking up a strong win in game two behind clutch hitting and solid pitching.

GAME 1: SWEDES 0, EAGLES 6

The Swedes were held scoreless in the series opener despite getting runners on base throughout the game. Bethany totaled three hits, with Jose Morales leading the way with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate.

On the mound, Joseph Guzman started and worked 4.0 innings, while the bullpen combined to limit further damage over the final four innings.

GAME 2: SWEDES 6, EAGLES 1

Bethany responded in a big way in game two, using timely hitting and a balanced offensive attack to secure the win. The Swedes collected nine hits and scored in three different innings to take control early.

Yan Ortiz had a standout performance, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs, including a home run that helped break the game open. Ryan Smith added two runs scored, while Eduardo Tarafa and William Sanchez each contributed extra-base hits.

On the mound, Juan Melo delivered a strong outing, pitching 5.0 innings and allowing just one run while striking out five. Wesly Martinez closed out the final two innings to secure the victory.

GAME 3: SWEDES 2, EAGLES 3

The series finale was a tight contest, with the Swedes nearly completing a late comeback. Bethany scored two runs in the ninth inning to put pressure on, but ultimately fell just short.

Stephen Kent provided the biggest offensive highlight with a two-run home run, accounting for both Swedes runs. Eduardo Tarafa and Yan Ortiz each added multi-hit performances to keep the offense active.

Jan Maldonado-Cruz turned in a strong start, throwing 7.2 innings and allowing just two runs while keeping the Swedes in the game throughout.

Bethany showed resilience throughout the weekend, highlighted by strong individual performances from Yan OrtizStephen Kent, and Eduardo Tarafa, along with quality pitching efforts that kept the team competitive in each game.
