Bethany College Athletics
Leavenworth, Kan. (bethanyswedes.com)- The Bethany College Volleyball team traveled to the University of Saint Mary for a conference match. The Spires came out ready from the jump and won the match in 3 sets.
The Swedes were unable to answer back to the Spires in the first set after a few 3-point streaks. The Spires extended the lead with a 5-point streak making the score 5-15. The Spires secured the first set with a 4-point streak, making the score 11-25. The second set was a closer battle with the Swedes and the Spires tied up 8-8. The Spires then had a 5-point streak that’s the Swedes were not able to come back from. The second set ended with the score 19-25. Bethany and Saint Mary were within 2 points of each other with the Spires in the lead 8-10. The Spires then had a 4-point streak that put them up 9-16. The Swedes kept chipping away but a late 6-point streak by Saint Mary gave the Spires a 10-point lead that the Swedes were not able to overcome. The third set ended 15-25.
Atlantis Jamerson, junior outside hitter, had a total of 9 points with 4 kills, 2 aces, and 3 solo blocks.

The Swedes have an opportunity to bounce back on Saturday, October 15th against Bethel College. The Bethany College Volleyball team will be traveling to North Newton, Kansas for a match starting at 3:00PM.
