Peru, Neb. – The Bethany College women’s basketball team delivered an impressive road performance on Saturday night, defeating Peru State 80–70 behind a balanced offensive effort and a dominant second half that sealed the victory.
The Swedes found their rhythm early and never looked back, shooting an efficient 48.3% from the field and a blistering 57.9% from three-point range. Bethany out-rebounded Peru State 33–24 and used a 19–10 third quarter to build a double-digit lead they carried to the finish.
Colbi Rignell led the way with a team-high 22 points, shooting 8-for-15 from the floor and 2-for-3 from beyond the arc while also adding four steals. Hannah Moss followed closely with 14 points, connecting on four three-pointers to spark Bethany’s perimeter attack. In the paint, Janae Black-Harmon anchored the Swedes with 12 points and a game-high 9 rebounds, controlling the boards and providing strong post defense. Becca Unruh added 11 points and 4 assists, while Lilyan Walden contributed 6 points and two triples to round out the balanced starting lineup.
Bethany’s depth also made an impact, as Ray Richardson provided a valuable boost off the bench with 7 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists, while Gabby Goldab added a key three-pointer during a second-quarter surge that helped the Swedes build momentum. As a team, the Swedes’ ball movement created consistent scoring opportunities, finishing with 13 assists on 28 made field goals. Defensively, Bethany limited Peru State to just 10 points in the third quarter and held them to 44.9% shooting overall, while forcing 12 turnovers.
The win marked Bethany’s second victory of the young season and their most complete team performance to date—combining shooting efficiency, rebounding control, and defensive toughness on the road. The Swedes will look to carry that momentum back home as they continue non-conference play next week.
