Sterling, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes Men’s Basketball team stormed onto Lonnie Kruse Court with vengeance on the mind as they took on the Sterling College Warriors.

The Swedes came out swinging with a 54-38 first half. After trailing 13-8 with 13:00 minutes to play, Bethany would finally get started as the Swedes would outscore the Warriors 32-17 by way of stifling defense and efficient shooting.

The second half was a nail-biter as the Warriors would claw back into it and even grab a 74-69 lead with 6:24 left to play. The Swedes were down, but not out, as they would slowly chip away at the Warrior lead until Milton Kpehe would convert his offensive rebound into second-chance points putting the Swedes up 83-81. In the final seconds, with the Swedes up 91-88, the Warriors would hit a corner three, but after reviewing the play, the shot was called off, and the Swedes would escape the Gleason Center victorious.

Keddric Mays II led the Swedes with 22 points and four steals. JJ Warfield tacked on 13 more while going a perfect five-for-five from the field. Warfield also had seven rebounds and three blocks. David Mitchell and Jordan Reams would also have double-digit scoring nights with 12 and 10, respectively.

As a team, the Swedes shot 56.3% from the field in the first half, and 47.5% throughout the contest. Bethany also made 26 out of 30 free throw attempts for their most in a game this season.
