The Bethany College Swedes faced a difficult conference matchup Saturday afternoon, falling 78–51 at Hahn Gymnasium. Despite the final score, Bethany continued to battle for all 40 minutes and saw several players step up with strong individual efforts against a tough opponent.
David Mitchell led the Swedes offensively with a team-high 19 points, attacking the basket and converting 6-of-7 from the free-throw line. Mitchell consistently looked to score and provided stability on the offensive end throughout the game. Curtis Stovall III delivered a solid all-around performance off the bench, finishing with 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds, giving Bethany an inside presence and second-chance opportunities.
Will Martinez added a spark from the perimeter, scoring eight points while knocking down two three-pointers, and brought energy on both ends of the floor. Bethany also stayed disciplined at the free-throw line, shooting 72 percent, and matched its opponent with 22 bench points, highlighting continued depth and effort across the lineup.
While the result did not go the Swedes’ way, the group remained competitive and focused, using the game as another opportunity to grow and prepare for the stretch run of conference play.
