Lindsborg, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes Women’s Soccer team closed out their 2025 season on Saturday evening, hosting Southwestern College at Coach Ted Kessinger Family Stadium for Senior Night. It was an emotional evening in Lindsborg, marking the final home match for the team’s seniors who have given so much to the program over the years.

From the opening whistle, the Swedes displayed composure and teamwork, moving the ball well out of the back and finding good connections through midfield. The effort and discipline were clear, as Bethany limited Southwestern’s chances during the first half. The match remained even until the 40th minute, when a controversial handball was called inside the box — a decision that few in attendance noticed at first. The Builders converted from the spot to take a 1–0 lead, a tough break for a Swedes side that had been defending resolutely.

In the second half, Bethany continued to show determination and organization, holding their shape and battling every ball. The game grew more physical, often controlled by the referee’s whistle, which slowed the rhythm and made it difficult for the Swedes to build from the back. Still, Bethany pushed forward, showing moments of creativity and confidence going forward.

Despite their best efforts, the Builders extended their lead in the 74th minute with a well-constructed play down the right wing, sealing the 2–0 final score. Goalkeeper Mackenzie Nutter, stepping up in her final game, recorded four saves and kept the Swedes in contention throughout the match.

Though the result wasn’t in Bethany’s favor, the performance reflected the team’s steady growth and collective spirit. The Swedes demonstrated clear improvement throughout the season and left strong foundations for what’s to come next year.

The program extends its deepest gratitude to the seniors for their leadership, dedication, and contributions to Bethany College Women’s Soccer. Their impact on and off the field will be remembered, and the Swedes’ family wishes them all the best in their next chapters.

Thank you, Mackenzie NutterAriana HurleyJysell Sampedro, and Esmeralda Ruiz!
