Lindsborg, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes played host to the (RV) McPherson College Bulldogs in what was the Swedes’ final intra-divisional game of the season. The Swedes were unable to capitalize on the Bulldogs’ early mistakes recovering three fumbles deep in Swedes’ territory including one that went out the back of the endzone for a touchback. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs would come out of halftime and play like a team who is receiving votes. The Swedes would fall 37-13.
Jessie Caver III would lead the Swedes passing for 72 yards and a touchdown. NeTaveus Johnson would make his return for the Swedes with 70 yards on the ground with a long of 36 yards. Trapper Enzor would tally 47 yards on two catches while Daniel Smith caught the lone touchdown winning a one-versus-one contested catch right in front of the endzone which resulted in a 27-yard touchdown.
Cooper Bogenhagen would set a new career high in tackles with 16 including a tackle-for-loss. Kamorion Carter forced one of the three fumbles in the first half.
Luis Gonzalez had a solid game on special teams going a perfect 3-for-3 (2 field goals and an extra point) from the field resulting in 7 points on the board. Gonzalez would also record his first touchback in his career while averaging 56.3 yards per kickoff and 40.0 yards per punt.
As a team, the Swedes only mustered 149 yards of total offense while giving up 37 yards in sacks. On third down, the Swedes were only able to convert one out of 12 (8%) on the afternoon.

The Swedes will get a little break, along with the rest of the KCAC, as interdivisional play is set to begin Saturday, October 18. Interdivisional play is what truly matters when figuring out playoffs. The Swedes will return to the field for Hyllningsfest as they host the Avila University Eagles. Kickoff is set for 1:30 PM in Coach Ted Kessinger Family Stadium.
