McPherson, Kan. – McPherson was at home on Saturday for a midday contest with the Southwestern College Moundbuilders. The Bulldogs looked to bounce back after a 2-1 loss to Bethel on Wednesday, while the Moundbuilders aimed to find a different result than their 2-0 loss to Evangel at mid-week.

How it Happened
The Bulldogs outshot the Moundbuilders 3-2 in the opening 25 minutes, but Southwestern broke the deadlock in the 28th minute with a goal from Kaitlyn Walker. The Moundbuilders continued to create chances, sending one shot wide and another on target that forced a save from goalkeeper Emily Singletary. Just before halftime, Sarah Hobrecht doubled Southwestern’s lead in the 45th minute, lofting a long-distance strike that slipped just over Singletary’s head.
McPherson came out strong after halftime, forcing two early saves from the Southwestern goalkeeper. Both teams battled for possession throughout the second half, each generating a handful of chances. Taylor Duvall pulled one back for the Bulldogs in the 89th minute, finishing a cross from Gracie Speltz.
Despite a late push, the Bulldogs couldn’t find the equalizer and fell 2-1 to the Moundbuilders. Duvall led McPherson with one goal and five shots, while goalkeeper Singletary tallied six saves.
