WICHITA, Kan. (macbulldogs.com) — McPherson College freshman Camila Sanchez was named KCAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced Monday (Apr. 3).
The Mexico City native had an outstanding week on the court, in which she only dropped one match.
Sanchez finished the week 4-0 in singles including a pair of wins over NCAA Division II opponents (Fort Hays State and Emporia State), and she swept all four matches.
In doubles, Sanchez finished 3-0 with partner Kayla Ortiz, winning each match 6-1. The lone match she lost was in doubles against Emporia State.
“As the season progresses, as coaches we just want to see players get better, learn more about themselves and their playing styles,” head coach Keiran President said. “Camila is starting to understand herself and her game the more the season progresses. As a freshman, it is hard to come in and play at the top of any line up, it put a little pressure on you. She has slowly began to embrace this and is now playing very well. Can’t wait to see how the rest of the season goes for her!”
