In the first season McPherson Middle School has split up boys and girls middle school wrestling, the MMS Girls attended their first all-girls competition on Tuesday, where they finished 12-2 against Newton and Haysville.

Head Coach Matthew McCasland noted, “I am so proud of these girls for what they did tonight. The majority of them are first year wrestlers, and by watching their performance you would have no idea. They came out with energy early in matches, and the other schools simply did not match up in terms of intensity and aggressiveness.”

He added, “Our girls set the tone and pace in almost every match. We told them early on that whoever is the aggressor is going to win the match. They took our advice and dominated all night.” He mentioned that Amara Dossett, McKenna Paul, and Addie French all wrestled their first competition ever on Tuesday and went 2-0. Coach McCasland concluded by saying, “Our staff is very excited to watch this group grow moving forward.”
