McPHERSON, Kan. – The McPherson Middle School Girls Tennis team continued their impressive season on Monday, hosting two duals, where they defeated Hutchinson 10-2, and Prairie Hills 11-1.
The Pups were flawless in their doubles sets against Hutchinson, winning all four matches 6-0. Coach Paul Reichenberger said, “Tonight, the girls played really well against two local schools. We played some great doubles and have really been strong at the net lately.”
Avery Unruh, Ava Miller, and Brenna Sullivan won their singles matches 6-0. Audra Sandbo, Dragon Rodriguez, and Liz Britting were also victorious against Hutchinson.
The Pups had more competitive matches against Prairie Hills, but Dragon Rodriguez, Ava Miller, and Brenna Sullivan were able to win 6-0, in their singles matches. Audra Sandbo, Quinn Liebl, Maylin Bruce, and Liz Britting were all victorious in their singles matches.
Avery Unruh/Quinn Liebl were 6-0 winners in both doubles matches, along with Hayden Eveland /Emily Reno. McKenna Paul /Piper VanCampen and Anne-Marie Holmes/Sophie Boese were the other doubles pairings that went 2-0 in their matches.
Coach Reichenberger said, “We have seen a lot of growth from the group of girls who are in their first year of tennis. Overall, I am very pleased with how we played.
Reichenberger concluded by saying, “Tomorrow (Tuesday), we will compete in the Hutchinson Invitational, where we hope to earn a first place team victory.”
