WICHITA, Kan. – The McPherson Middle School Girls Tennis team concluded their season undefeated on Monday, taking first at the Wichita Suburban League Tournament.
Head Coach, Paul Reichenberger said, “At each division level, the girls played well. In doubles, we had great communication between doubles teammates all day.” He noted, “The best match of the day was a thrilling tiebreaker win from Sophie Boese and Hayden Eveland at #4 doubles against Hutchinson where they won 6-5 (10-8). That tiebreaker score is as close of a score as a match can be in middle school tennis.”
Reichenberger gave a shout-out to his nine 8th graders, who worked hard to improve this season; Avery Unruh, Dragon Rodriguez, McKenna Paul, Piper VanCampen, Ava Miller, Brenna Sullivan, Anne-Marie Holmes, Sophie Boese, and Maylin Bruce. Reichenberger concluded by saying, “They put in the time and effort to get better over the summer and during the season and it showed this year with the undefeated season. Their leadership was evident every day at practice both on and off the courts. I am very proud of these girls and am excited to watch them grow as tennis players and as young adults.”
