MMS 7/8 Girls A-Teams Defeat Salina South Thursday


The McPherson Middle School Girls Basketball teams took on Salina South on Thursday, where the A-Teams were able to defeat the South, but the B-Teams would come up just short. 

In the 8th Grade A Game, the Pups would defeat Salina South, 43-22. Head Coach Heidi Ricke said, “Tonight, was the best team effort that we have had all year.  The girls came out focused and ready to play tonight.  Injury and illness have hit us pretty hard this past week, but I am so proud of how the girls continue to show up and play hard every single game.”

A-Team Stats:

Carmin Pavlovich:  3 Points


The B-Team would fall 20-14, and Coach Ricke said, “Although we came up short, we played a very solid game.  We showed a lot of improvement, and the girls showed a lot of heart playing through illness and injury.  Coach Stalnaker and I are very proud of the girls

B-Team Stats:

Ari Prose:  5 Points

Rylee Holt:  4 Points

MacKaylie Woltje:  3 Points

Arrianna Nowell:  2 Point


The 7th Grade A Team would defeat Salina South 38-11, Head Coach Matt Sandbo said, “We did some good things in the game.” He noted sloppy passing and catching in the second half, adding “We need to value the ball much better.”

The B-Team would fall 19-14, Coach Sandbo said, “The girls played hard.” he mentioned Salina South’s pressure made it hard to score, but him and his team look forward to getting back to some practice without any games next week.
