McPherson Rounds Out Indoor T&F Season with Eight Podium Finishes at KCAC Championships

Wichita, Kan – Indoor Track & Field headed south to compete in the KCAC Indoor Championships hosted on the campus of Wichita State. With much to be proud of from the regular season meets, the Bulldogs sought after a high finish in both the men’s and women’s categories.

Day One
The throwers of McPherson had an excellent day in the Heskett Center as the Bulldogs had two 1st place finishes. For the men, Lamar Gordon finished 1st in the Shot Put with a distance of 15.72m, while Joshua Ferguson’s 6th place finish was a PR of 14.34m. Jacob Saul threw a distance of 13.09m which was also a personal-best.

Tristen Sanchez competed in the 60m (7.37) and the 200m 24.45; both times would be a career-best time for Sanchez. Austin Glezen would run a personal-best time of 24.07 in the 200m alongside Sanchez.

Kara Alexander took 1st place in the Shot Put event for the ladies with a distance of 12.71m. Right behind her in 2nd place was Cara Shultz with a distance of 12.56m (PR). Shelby Pronk’s throw of 4.86m was a personal-best finish as well.

Chloe Guzman had a Long Jump of 4.28m (PR); this would round out the field events for Day One. Blake Posey moved on to the finals on Day Two after finishing with a 9.09 in the 60m Hurdles. In the 200m she’d run a personal-best of 26.98. Nina Zimmermann finished the 60m with a 9.15 (PR) and the time of 30.11 in the 200m (PR).

Day Two
Gordon’s Weight Throw on Day Two was good enough for second place with a distance of 18.42m (PR). In the distance category, Brian Fackert finished with a B standard time of 2:27.62 and came in 2nd place; he’d follow that performance up with a 1:57.21 800m time and came in 2nd place once again. Elias Neely’s 51.27 400m time would put him 8th place in the field.

Cara Shultz’s 15.22m Weight Throw place her 3rd in that event following up her 2nd place finish the day before in the Shot Put. Kara Alexander came in 6th in the Weight Throw with a distance of 13.55m.

Alexis Wolfe finished with a personal-best 6:42.31 in the Women’s Mile, which was followed by Johanna Walker’s 12:15.97 personal-best 3000m run. Posey would place 3rd place in the 60m Hurdles with a time of 9.01 (PR). Zimmermann rounded out McPherson’s weekend with a 400m personal-best time of 1:08.49.

The Bulldogs finished the weekend with eight podium finishes, 16 personal record, and one national standard time. Brian Fackert and Lamar Gordon will head to Gainesville, FL for the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships that will take place March 5th through the 7th.
