HILLSBORO, Kan. – The Tabor College softball team dropped both games of a conference doubleheader against Oklahoma Wesleyan on Saturday in Hillsboro, falling 7-4 in game one and 7-5 in game two.
In the opener, the Bluejays collected seven hits and were led offensively by Rachaely Yaya, who went 2-for-3 at the plate. Reagan Hammons provided key run production, finishing 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Khily Broweradded a 1-for-3 performance with an RBI and a run, while Reese Hefley also crossed the plate after going 1-for-4.
Additional contributions came from Brea Grimsley (1-for-4) and Harley McLaughlin (1-for-3), as Tabor found ways to generate baserunners throughout the lineup. Candince Moreno-Hairabedian drove in a run despite not recording a hit. However, a three-run fifth inning from Oklahoma Wesleyan proved to be the difference as the Bluejays fell 7-4.
Game two featured an even stronger offensive showing from Tabor, as the Bluejays tallied 10 hits. Rachaely Yaya stayed hot at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI. Reagan Hammons turned in another strong performance, finishing 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run.
Kayla Garber added a multi-hit effort, going 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Mylee Milne delivered one of the biggest hits of the game, going 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Khily Brower (1-for-3, run) and Brea Grimsley (1-for-4) also contributed, and Candince Moreno-Hairabedian chipped in with a hit in limited opportunities.
Despite the offensive production, the Bluejays were unable to hold off Oklahoma Wesleyan’s late push, as the Eagles scored six combined runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Tabor remained within striking distance but ultimately fell 7-5.
Across the doubleheader, the Bluejays combined for 17 hits and showed consistent production throughout the lineup, highlighted by multiple multi-hit performances and timely RBIs. Tabor will look to build on that offensive momentum as they continue conference play as Kansas Wesleyan comes to town on Tuesday for the regular season finale.
