EMPORIA, Kan. — The Hesston College track and field team competed at the Emporia State Spring Open on March 27, turning in several solid performances across running and field events.
In the men’s sprints, Zach Graham (freshman, Derby, Kan.) finished 69th in the 100 meters with a time of 11.96, while Nick Win (junior, Yangon, Myanmar) placed 70th in 12.02. On the women’s side of the 100 meters, Krystina Clemons (junior, Morrilton, Ark.) finished 31st with a time of 13.00.
Graham and Win also competed in the 200 meters, finishing 51st and 52nd respectively with times of 25.21 and 25.36.
In the middle-distance events, Nathan Lewis (freshman, Wichita, Kan.) placed 40th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:07.06, while Seth Crouse (freshman, Chapman, Kan.) finished 52nd in 2:16.48. Lewis also competed in the 1500 meters, finishing 22nd with a time of 4:25.93. Jack Hunter (sophomore, Abilene, Kan.) placed 33rd in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:47.30, and Landon Lunsford (sophomore, Newton, Kan.) finished 35th in 4:55.06.
In the distance events, Jonah Krumme (freshman, Wichita, Kan.) placed 19th in the 5000 meters with a time of 16:58.74, followed by Ethan Thompson (sophomore, Hesston, Kan.) who finished 23rd in 17:38.53. In the men’s 10,000 meters, Sebastian Pavlovich (sophomore, Lindsborg, Kan.) finished 15th with a time of 39:57.12.
In the field events, Graham also competed in the discus, finishing 40th with a throw of 28.44 meters. Keira Rankin (freshman, Frazier Park, Calif.) finished 35th in the women’s discus with a throw of 30.18 meters and also placed 38th in the women’s shot put with a distance of 8.71 meters.
The Larks will return to action April 2–4 at the Friends University Spring Open in Wichita, Kansas.
