SALINA, Kan. – The Hesston College women’s flag football team faced a tough road test Saturday, falling 73–0 to Kansas Wesleyan.
Kansas Wesleyan struck quickly, opening the scoring on a 66-yard touchdown pass on the first play from scrimmage and adding three more touchdowns in the opening quarter to take a 28–0 lead. The Coyotes continued to build momentum in the second quarter, capitalizing on turnovers and short fields to extend the advantage to 48–0 at halftime.
Alexis Pabon led the Larks offensively, finishing 13-of-40 passing for 50 yards. Destiny Ortiz hauled in five receptions for 21 yards, while Emma Pfannenstiel added two catches for 12 yards. Akiva Brown contributed two receptions as Hesston totaled 55 yards of offense on the afternoon.
Defensively, Mikayla Lucas paced the Larks with six flag pulls, followed by Brown with five. Tianna McPherson and Abygail Romero each recorded four tackles, while Madison Jarvis added three as the Larks continued to compete throughout all four quarters.
Kansas Wesleyan finished with 466 yards of total offense and eight passing touchdowns in the contest.
The Larks will face Midland University on Saturday, February 28th at home.
