HESSTON, Kan. — The Hesston College women’s basketball team dropped an 87–36 decision to Park University on Saturday afternoon inside Yost Center, as the visiting Pirates used balanced scoring and defensive pressure to control the game from start to finish. Park opened with a 25–9 first quarter and never relinquished momentum, extending the lead to 44–18 at halftime before outscoring the Larks 26–9 in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.

Park shot 44.4 percent from the field and won the rebounding battle 51–32, capitalizing on 27 Hesston turnovers to generate consistent scoring opportunities. Charleece Davis led all scorers with 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting, adding seven rebounds, three assists and three steals, while Elizabeth Boehm chipped in 16 points and Nevaeh Spillman posted a strong all-around effort with 14 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Alexus Woodard also reached double figures with 14 points off the bench as Park placed multiple players in scoring positions throughout the contest.

Hesston was paced by Halli Starks, who nearly recorded a double-double with 11 rebounds and eight points, while Sarah Beltran knocked down two three-pointers to finish with eight points. Krysten CarterMia Brown and Mia Curtis each added six points for the Larks, who shot 24.0 percent from the field and went 10-of-12 from the free-throw line. Despite matching Park with nine points in each quarter, Hesston was unable to string together sustained offensive runs against the Pirates’ defensive pressure.

The Larks will hit the road on Tuesday (Dec. 16) to take on Manhattan Christian College at 4 p.m.
