Moore, Okla. – The Bethany College Swedes Baseball team traveled down to Moore, Okla. to take on the Randall University Saints. The Swedes are coming off a huge series victory over conference foe the Evangel University Valor.
GAME 1: SWEDES 4, SAINTS 10
The Swedes started off well as William Sanchez doubled home Eduardo Tarafa to open up the scoring in the second inning. In the third, Yan Ortiz scored via a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch before Adrian Rodriguez scored via an Eduardo Tarafa ground out to second base.
The bottom half of the inning was one to forget as the Saint would rack up five runs to take a 5-3 lead. Bethany would answer back in the fourth as Yan Ortiz would ground out to second base, allowing Sanchez to score and cut the deficit to one. The Saints would score five more runs to the Swedes’ none to take this one 10-4.
Manny Gonzalez, William Sanchez, and Conner Balmer would each record two hits to combine for six of the Swedes eight hits of the game one. Rodriguez, Sanchez, Fernando Bones and Diego Lopez would all team up for a double play to close out the third inning.
Lopez drew the start and lasted 3.0 innings before being relieved by Jose Fajardo for 1.2 innings. Austin Arrocha closed out the final 1.1 innings. Each pitcher struck out one batter.
GAME 2: SWEDES 1, SAINTS 5
The Saints hopped on the board early scoring in the second, third, and fourth innings to take a commanding 4-0 lead. Daniel Barker would score in the sixth inning by way of a William Sanchez double to left field, but that is all the Swedes would muster as Bethany would fall 5-1.
Fernando Bones had an impressive stat line going one-for-one while drawing three walks. Manny Gonzalez was the lone Swede with two hits in the contest.
Wander De Jesus drew the start lasting 3.0 innings allowing four hits and two walks while striking out two. Noah Hargrove pitched the final 3.0 innings allowing just three hits and three walks while striking out two.

The Swedes will play host to the Ottawa University Braves this weekend for a Saturday-Sunday series. Saturday, March 7, will be a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 PM featuring a nine-inning contest followed by a seven-inning game. Sunday, March 8, will feature a single nine-inning contest as the series finale.
